Port Eliot Lit Fest 2005
22nd - 24th July

Welcome to a weekend of words, music, magic, dancing, film, food and fairytales, in the most idyllic secret garden in England. Pitch your tent in hundreds of acres of 18th century parkland in the grounds of an ancient stately home. Eat seafood and drink champagne cider, get lost in the maze, dance under the stars, fall in love, watch a film, be digitally dazed, hear a story, eat fish soup, open your mind, lie on the grass. Read. Think. Explore. Be inspired.

The third Port Eliot Lit Fest will be held at Port Eliot, St.Germans, Saltash, Cornwall on
Fri 22nd, Sat 23rd and Sun 24th July 2005.

Come and be part of this summer's most happening literary happening. Watch Ralph Steadman don his Hunter S. Thompson outfit and summon the spirit of his old friend with readings from unpublished work. Share your weekend with Martin Parr, Louis de Bernieres, Gavin Turk, Ekow Eshun Michael Howells, Richard Benson, James Cauty Michael Eavis, Lily Fraser, Tom Baxter, Mick Brown, Toby Litt, Geoff Dyer, Louis Eliot, Huge Advance, Simon Munnery, Aisle 16, Francis Upritchard, Hari Kunzru and many more. Plus, for the first time this year dine in splendour by candlelight in Port Eliot house.

Port Eliot Lit Fest features a rich contempory mix of writers, poets, filmmakers, digital artists, sculptors and musicians, this three-day event attracts a wide range of visitors, who can enjoy the performances in 100+ acres of 18th century landscaped parkland and walled gardens in the grounds of an ancient stately home.
The festival also very much welcomes families with children.

Hosted by Lord St Germans, the festival is organized by Catherine Wilson, journalist and author, Simon Prosser, Publishing Director of Hamish Hamilton, Rick Worthy, actor and musician and Robert Hocking, digital artist and teacher.

We will again be opening a film tent with a seating capacity of approx 250 and black out facility. This was a big hit last year, and saw some wonderful and eccentric events.
In the house there will be The Artytechs Parlour, where you will find cutting-edge experiments in artistic digital technology.

Again we will be offering a much wider range of fabulous food to suit every taste including vegetarian, hot breakfasts, all day carvery, tapas bar, Spanish churros, falafels, tea and cakes in the Orangery, Cornish pasties, crepes and an ice cream van by the estuary. Plus the bookshop and a bazaar of stalls selling vintage clothes, jewellery, wrought iron work, soap, handmade paper and other delights. Lillian Jones will be returning with her massage tent in the Scented Garden. Campers will be able to enjoy deluxe hot showers.

We expect to attract a lot more interest this year, so make sure you get your tickets in good time for this really special event and come to a pastoral heaven in Cornwall in July and have the time of your life in the company of many talented and entertaining artists. We guarantee a unique and unforgettable weekend.
