"So often we in the USA get held up with our mining heritage
and do not pay attention to the amazing maritime history of Cornwall.
Linking your informative website to the www.cousinjack.org site will hopefully remedy that.
Once again, many thanks and keep up the good work"
Vivianne Trevithick Bradley, President of Cornish American Heritage Society, Burnsville, NC, USA

The Artytechs Parlour at the Port Eliot Lit Fest

Chthonic Tales at the Port Eliot Lit Fest

Robert Hocking and Martin Sexton have invited a cauldron of artists, musicians,
technologists and paranormal theorists into the Parlour. Under the Great House,
there’s something unusual going on. Visit this surreal, intimate experience that blurs
the boundaries of reality. Displaced to 'The Tunnel' that runs underneath the
main body of the ancient house at Port Eliot and amongst its
immediate grounds, Chthonic Tales is concerned with 'Magic & Illusion'.

The Mediterranean Voices project

Mediterranean Voices

The Mediterranean Voices project commenced in June 2002 and represents a three-year
ethnographic investigation into the cosmopolitan oral and social histories of
13 historic cites across the Mediterranean region, and in particular,
certain urban quarters within them. It is a major research project and partnership
initiative between London Metropolitan University and 13 research institutions
in the Mediterranean basin, and is part-funded by the European Union's
EuroMed Heritage II Programme. Artytechs worked for 2 years on the Med-Voices project and
the multimedia elements were based on the Looe Maritime Archive project.
The rich media database, searchable in 8 languages was built by Dr Andy Phippen
of the University of Plymouth who we are also working with on the Virtual Networks project.
We were responsible for running workshops for the researchers in London and
several cities around the Mediterranean. These workshops covered using computers,
video cameras, digital stills cameras, scanners and mini-disk recorders to collect
the cultural information. The media was then processed and compressed into formats
for web delivery. We were also responsible for all the technical issues and support during the
first 2 years of the project.
